Did the buyer actually
lodge it? We ask NLIS.
An NLIS movement is recorded by the receiver, not the vendor. You issue the NVD and load the truck — then the buyer has to lodge the transfer onto their PIC. Until they do, those tags are still sitting on your PIC, and that is your compliance problem, not theirs. It is the one step of a sale you cannot perform yourself, and most producers only discover it failed months later, at a reconciliation or an audit, when nobody remembers the load.
So Tagline asks the NLIS database directly. As an ISC-accredited NLIS integrator with production access live, the app queries the registry's own movement records on a schedule — no CSV download, no portal login, no waiting for you to remember. Every consignment you have sold is checked against what NLIS itself holds, and there are only two answers.
It landed. NLIS agrees the cattle moved to the buyer's PIC. You get an email — this NVD, this many head, now on this PIC — and the consignment carries a green ✓ NLIS mark with the registry's own movement date recorded against it. That is auditor-grade evidence, and it is the only evidence available to a vendor, because the lodgement was never yours to make.
It didn’t. The sale stays flagged on your dashboard as awaiting transfer, ageing by the day and turning red once it is overdue. A buyer who never lodges cannot quietly become your problem at audit time, because the app has been saying so since the week it happened — while you can still ring them.

Kill sheet ingestion.
Upload kill sheets directly from Nolan Meats, Bindaree, JBS, or Whyalla. Each row is matched to the animal record by RFID, lifecycle status updated to sold_for_slaughter, and the kill date, $/kg, and carcase data attached to the audit log. Feedlot-routed animals transition correctly from transferred_off without a date mismatch.
NLIS Actions workflow.
Every tag that needs a lodgement, every EU-deceased flag, every device the NLIS database returns "not authorised" — tracked in one workflow. Add dated notes, mark resolved, export pending actions to a spreadsheet for the NLIS helpdesk. Auto-resolves on the next NLIS sync once the device is authorised.
Mobs that keep their history.
A mob is a real entity, not a label — formation date, append-only membership history, disbandment. When an auditor asks which animals were in the mob on the day it was treated, that is one query, not a reconstruction from yard sheets and paddock notes. Most farm software stores a mob as state; when you rearrange it the old shape is gone. Tagline keeps the line.
Tag rules, enforced.
One animal, one active tag, one period — enforced at the database level, not in a policy document. Lost tags are recorded with an explicit reason. Replacements are atomic: the old assignment ends and the new one begins in the same transaction. Bulk re-tagging is all-or-nothing.
Direct NLIS sync.
Tagline connects to the production NLIS database directly — no CSV exports, no email-yourself-the-Device-Query routine. Run a sync and the current state of every device on your PIC lands in the Reconciliation Sheet with EU and LT status per device. Unrecognised RFIDs raise an NLIS Action automatically. The monthly CSV path is still there as a fallback.

Most farms come to us with NLIS records that haven't been reconciled in years — transferred-in animals with no proper state, mistakes from paper notebooks, lost tags that were never lodged. When you sign up, we sit with you and sort it out. We work through the Reconciliation Sheet line by line, lodge what needs lodging, and walk you through the workflow so it never gets that messy again. By the time you're done with onboarding, your records match reality. The audit trail is clean. No other software vendor does this — they hand you a manual and wish you luck.

Paddock event history.
Append-only log per paddock: sown, fertilised, sprayed, cultivated, mowed, out-of-use, back-in-use. Each event records product, rate, and date. Current pasture, last sown date, and last fertilised product are derived automatically and shown in the paddock list. Bulk-apply an event across multiple paddocks at once.
Paddock map, move mode.
Move a mob between paddocks on the map itself — tap the source then the destination, or press-and-drag on an iPad. Moving part of a mob is a subset picker, not a workaround. Every move writes to the paddock event history, so the map and the record never disagree.

Loads first when you sign in. Herd snapshot by class and lifecycle, outstanding NLIS work and reconciliation flags, last five kill sheets with $/kg, best $/kg YTD, and paddock attention alerts (out-of-use / never sown / fertilise overdue). Your property, in context. A long-term SILO rainfall strip shows YTD vs the 130-year average and a decile ranking — you know if this year is genuinely dry or just feels like it. A deterministic Restock Insights card computes carrying-capacity burn-rate from actual head count and paddock area — no guesswork about when to sell or buy. On Monday morning, an LLM-narrated weekly digest walks through what changed on the line — treatments, sales, NLIS moves, paddock events — and calls out what needs attention first.

The number-one cause of cattle records drifting from reality is tag mistakes made in the yard — wrong RFID paired with wrong visual, lost tag never updated in the register, both tags lost and the animal becomes anonymous. The mistake's invisible until weeks later, when the NVD doesn't match at sale or the LPA auditor opens the records. No competing software solves this. Yard Mode does.
Open Yard Mode on your tablet at the crush. Scan a tag with the phone camera, an RFID stick reader, or type it. The animal pops up — its paddock, withholding status, recent treatments. One tap to replace a lost tag — Tagline ends the old assignment, links the new tag, and auto-queues the NLIS lost-tag report so you never forget the compliance step.
Lost both tags? Run a mob scan, and Tagline's elimination algorithm figures out which animal got which new tag by matching what's missing against what's been scanned. No more "I'll fix it later." No more silent drift.

Yard events — cows & calves in one pass.
Record a full yard treatment as a single event, but target it right. Cows get 7-in-1 and the drench; calves at foot get 5-in-1 and the marking dose — each product line picks the correct class automatically. Vaccine bottles draw down from the chemical inventory by batch, so your LPA-03 lot register updates itself as you dose. Fire the event from an Animal Register selection or a paddock mob; server-side rules stamp the paddock, guard against duplicates, and cascade-clean if the mob was wrong. Dose tracking runs on untagged calves at foot too — the batch trail survives even when the animal doesn't have a tag yet.
Calendar — what's coming up.

Treatment, WHP, and the mob line.
Record treatments against individuals, a paddock's animals, or a named mob entity with append-only membership history. When the auditor asks "show me which animals were in mob X on 14 Feb when you drenched it" — one query, on the line, no reconstruction. Move a whole mob to another paddock in 1 click. Withholding period (WHP) and export slaughter interval (ESI) computed automatically. The Record Sale flow blocks animals still in their withholding window.
Treatment programs & what's due.
Schedule treatments by age ("7-in-1 first dose at 2 months") or by month ("annual booster in April"), and the Treatments Due page reads every active program to show what is due, soon, or overdue per animal. Spring and autumn calving presets ship with the app; run a split herd and activate both.
eNVD, direct & synced.
Build, sign, and lodge eNVD consignments straight into ISC — no portal hop. Save form templates for repeat lanes, duplicate a past consignment in one click, draw / type / upload a signature (or reuse last time's), and thread comments per consignment. NLIS devices attach at submit; ISC's authoritative answers, heads and movement state sync back onto the line. Direct-to-abattoir and feedlot exits stay distinct lifecycle paths, so date mismatches never occur. ISC production licence approved — switching on property by property now.
Bulk operations.
Select any number of animals from the register and act on all of them: record deaths, update sex / breed / birth year / tag colour / notes / origin PIC in a single transaction, or move to a new paddock. All bulk writes go through the same server-side constraints as single-animal operations.
Offline. Syncs later.
Dead zone at the back paddock? Tag, weigh, treat — events queue on your phone. Back in range, everything reconciles against the server-side source of truth. Server-side rule enforcement means no offline session can produce data that violates the tag or livestock constraints.
Ask help — AI that knows the product.
A floating Ask help button on every page opens an AI chat drawer. Plain-English questions ("how do I record a death", "what does EU=D mean", "can I move a whole mob between paddocks") answered from the same help corpus that powers the docs, with clickable citations to the full workflow. bull selection.
Import estimated breeding values for any animal from a CSV paste. Sixteen BREEDPLAN traits across two sections — growth, carcase, fertility, maternal. Breed average comparisons and accuracy colour-coding per trait. Bull selection panel lets you filter by society, accuracy, and selection preset (Heifer Safe / Heavy Growth / Carcase Premium), then compare up to four bulls side-by-side with best-value highlighting.

Performance recording.
Record birth weight, 200-day, 400-day, 600-day, yearling, mature, joining, and pre-sale weights per animal. Body scans: EMA, rib fat, rump fat, IMF, and scrotal circumference for bulls. Bulk weight entry for mob weighing sessions. All data maps directly to BREEDPLAN's required columns on export.
Joining management & sire suggestion.
Record bull × paddock matings with start and end dates, set a target joining duration, and get an overdue alert if a mob's still running past it. Current mob count surfaces on each joining. Calving window derived automatically at 283 days ± 14 days. Open a calf record, set the dam, and the system suggests the probable sire from the dam's paddock history and joining overlap — confidence-scored high or low.
BREEDPLAN export.
One click generates an ABRI-compatible 28-column CSV ready to submit to your breed society. Contemporary groups auto-derived from birth year and paddock code. Validation panel shows per-animal readiness — weight count, scan completeness, issues list — before you export. No manual spreadsheet formatting.
